While looking for a video to analyze, I came across this one ad on Facebook I had never seen before. It looked interesting. The ad is for Raw Shorts, a company that lets you create short videos on-line. They seem to be perfect for Social Media and using pre-built animation.
What are the video’s strengths?
This video is extremely well done. It gets the message of the company across quickly. The video explained what you can accomplish using their video creation system very quickly and easily. It is easy to follow what is being said and to see what you could do with it.
What are the video’s weaknesses?
The weakness is the that it is a little on the fast side and it uses too many predefined images. It could be better if they should that you can use your own images or video clips. The lady that is doing the narration speaks a little too fast and the background music is distracting for a lot of people.
What is the video trying to accomplish with its design?
This video is trying to get people to signup for their services. They do have a free offering for some basic short videos. You pay to get longer video and the more advanced features.
How has the design used: Composition, Fundamentals, Contrast, Lines, Layout, Golden Section, Rule of Thirds, Not Half, Swiss Grid or Custom Grids?
The video did not break things out very much in these aspects. It is a full screen of their software and how you navigate it. In the lower left corner of the screen is an overlay of the narrator. The narrator almost looks like an after thought as to where to put her image.
Which metrics will be used to determine if the video is successful?
How many people signed up for their service is the best indicator as to if this was successful or not. Another indicator will be for the tracking of views, shares and any comments made on the video.
