Code a custom web page with HTML and CSS. There was no real critique process for this assignment. I did show it to a few family members to get their initial reaction to make sure that the page did not look weird.

Create and organize an infographic using data that we have collected on any topic of our choice. The process I went through in creating this graphic as interesting for me. I love data and so I have a lot of data sets in a wide variety of areas. The hard part was deciding what data to use and pair it down to just a few items.</p>

We had to create a logo for a company/service/organization and establish a visual identity across the letterhead and business card identity. The top thing learned is that most people I asked have no clue about what an icon is supposed to do and how you get it to become a recognizable icon. Most of the big brands that are household names have spend millions of dollars getting their logo to become such. In a small market you need to convey something a little different and not so cheesy like most small businesses do.

Our project this week was to create a montage with a spiritual message to it. We had to use three images and blend them all together. I was thinking about what I wanted to do and I came across the scripture and thought of the images. The image of Christ and Moroni were a definite and the one of the scriptures was one I had to look for. Tools that I used was Adobe Photoshop. I use layer masking, adjusting the levels of light on the main image and the brightness in a couple of areas. I used the lasso tool with a 200 pixel feather to cut out the images of Christ and Moroni to put on the main image.

By using photography skills and Photoshop editing, create a full bleed poster using good design technique and use of fonts, colors, and images. The process I went through was to look at all the things around where I live. Since I have been doing so much with our horses, I decided to do something along those lines. I did a quick Google search for quotes about horses and decided on one. That help determine the items in the picture.

This assignment was a lot of fun. I did learn a lot about taking photos and how to better use my camera. I do have to take photos of office spaces etc at times for my job to put them onto websites. Most people have no idea what a good photo is and how to enhance it with Photoshop. This assignment gave me a few more ideas to use. All of the images except the office lobby are from my own property. With 5 horses, we live on 5 acres of land. The office lobby is from a dental office that I updating the website for. I took close to 200 photos trying to get the focus correct for the foreground/background focus shots and that was not easy.  To get the focus shots correct, I had to turn on the Macro option on my camera and it took close to 50 photos before I learned how to do it semi-correctly. I still need to practice with that.

This assignment was to create a Prezi presentation using https://prezi.com website. The presentation is to be an instructional presentation on a topic of our choosing. I thought about the various things that I could teach about in a fairly quick manner. The ideas I had were Welding, Replacing a car radiator, Ham Radio essentials, and Horses. At the start of the project I was planning on doing all these things on the Saturday at the start of the project. These would have all been easy for me to document. I decided on horses because it was the easiest to take the photos I was going to need to use.

The description of the assignment was as follows: We are new interns and have been tasked with creating a magazine cover. The cover had to feature ourselves as the main topic. We had to use good design principles with layout, color, alignment and fonts. The process that was used to do this assignment was a hard one for me. I personally do not like to have my picture taken, have people look at me etc. Deciding on the theme was a hard one in that I do a lot of very different things. Since the last four months most of my free time has been take by an upcoming Hamfest (Ham Radio event), I decide to do a magazine cover from one of the magazines for the hobby.

This is an introduction video that I had to create to introduce myself to the COMM-130 Visual Communication class at BYU-Idaho.

Which operating system is the best one? I get asked this a lot and the answer is it depends on what you want to do. Are you going to be doing a lot of number crunching like an accountant or financial advisor? Will you be doing multi-media editing such as movies and audio files? How about just surfing the web doing shopping, e-mail, and writing the occasional document? These are all the main basic uses that over 90% of users fall into. You need to identify which one fits you the best.
